Grimore

The fate of the Wayward Sisters remains a mystery in Eclipse Ridge, with various speculations circulating. Some believe they passed away peacefully in their cottage, while others tell a tale of love and betrayal, with one Sister murdering the other two in pursuit of immortality, only to be transformed into a hideous monster, doomed to roam the Earth in solitude.

Regardless of the truth, the Wayward Sisters left behind a Grimoire, a book filled with spells, enchantments, and notes on their studies of gemstones and the Lode. Despite missing pages, the Grimoire has a unique property: occasionally, a lost page mysteriously reappears in the book, a phenomenon that occurs only rarely.

The Wayward Grimoire is under guarded protection at an undisclosed location. Fortunately, its pages have been digitalized and shared with the Witches of Eclipse Ridge, allowing them to access its wisdom and knowledge.

OOC Information

Below are spells, wards, rituals, and enhancements, all of which require a gem unless it is a Cantrip (read more below). Witches may start with one gem from their ruling house (e.g., a Corpus Witch would have a ruby), but you must register it in the gem repository to indicate whether it was purchased from Mystic Junction or passed down as a family heirloom if you grew up in Eclipse Ridge. It’s important to note that all gems used originate in Eclipse Ridge. If your family isn’t from Eclipse Ridge, it was purchased from Mystic Junction.

The Wayward Grimoire is a guide. You are welcome to create your own spells and even submit them to be added to the Grimoire. If you have trouble discerning what tier or house your spell would fall under, please reach out to staff and they will help you categorize it!

Not all abilities are created equal, and some will require more Lode than others, based largely on complexity, size, or significance. A Gemstone can only contain so much Lode, with each use depleting that which is held within; once fully depleted, the Gemstone will become ‘dull’ until recharged under the light of the full moon.

Lode abilities are categorized as follows:

  • Tier 5 (T5) – 100% use, completely drains all Lode contained within.
  • Tier 4 (T4) – 60% use
  • Tier 3 (T3) – 40% use
  • Tier 2 (T2) – 20% use
  • Tier 1 (T1) – 10% use
  • Passive (P) – 5% daily use (e.g. protection charms)
  • Cantrips – Innate abilities specific only to the ruling house that the witch can access with their direct connection to the Lode. Other witches may access the abilities but must have the gem for that house to unlock it.

Consequences

Drawing upon the Lode, whether directly or with the aid of a gem, comes at a cost. Overusing it in a single session can strain and exhaust the body. Visible symptoms of such overuse include a bloody nose, bleeding ears, extreme fatigue, and even fainting.

In order to ensure fairness in roleplay, and however you receive a Gem, its existence and usage must be logged.

The following are methods a witch may use their gem(s) to wield the Lode.

Alchemy

Certain witches delve into the realms of magic and chemistry, manipulating ingredients, like gemstones, to create diverse potions or tinctures. This process can include pulverizing ingredients into powder, immersing them in liquids, or infusing them with desired properties. Incorporating gems into potions and tinctures through pulverizing will leave the gem unable to restore to full capacity (e.g. If you crush a emerald for a tier 2 antidote that requires 20% – your gemstone will only be able to recharge 80%)

Chi

Chi is the absorption the Lode directly or draws on the energy stored in a gem to fulfill a desired purpose, such as a charm or amulet. A witch may use Chi to perform a spell, chant, rite or ritual. This practice exacts a toll on the Witch, causing extreme fatigue and depleting the gem’s energy reserves. Without the necessary knowledge and skill, accessing the Lode through Chi magic can lead to unpredictable and potentially hazardous outcomes.

Hemomancy – “Blood Magic”

Hemomancy, also known as “blood magic,” involves manipulating flesh and blood to enhance abilities or establish a profound connection with the Lode, independent of the lunar cycle for empowerment and recharge. However, it is deemed a taboo practice primarily because it entails a blood sacrifice, either from the witch themself or another living being. Hemomancy operates on the principle of greed: the greater the blood sacrificed, the more potent the effect. Infusing blood magic with a gem runs a higher risk of damage to the stone and to the practitioner.


Below are various abilities that can be harnessed through the practice of alchemy, absorption, and blood magic. Unleash your creativity, but be mindful of the tier level. If you intend to craft something for another individual, consider creating a note card with instructions on how to use the potion, spell, charm, ward, or other creation. This will ensure proper understanding and utilization of your magical creation.

Witches are not constrained solely by the abilities documented here, as these contain merely a sampling of the gifts bestowed by the Lode. However, the ability must match the Gemstone’s affinity (Ruby > Blood, for example). If you are unsure how to categorize an ability or which tier it would apply to, please contact staff for guidance.

Ruling House: Corpus Witch

Element: Water

One of the Earth’s earliest and most coveted riches, Rubies are innately tied to the body and mind, with the holder’s best traits enhanced beyond their normal abilities. Holding the abilities of the Ruby is often said to make an individual feel the power beneath their skin as if filled with energy pushing outward, as though it is barely contained.

Cantrips

Hydrokinesis – Water is the Element of the Corpus Witch and therefore it can be manipulated in small quantities as a cantrip (e.g., turning a glass of water from hot to cold, splashing someone with a puddle). Large scale manipulations (e.g., displacing pool water, breaking a water pipe) would be considered tiered spells and will need a gem to help.

Telekinesis – the ability to move objects with their mind. (Up to 300 pounds. Minimum of 2 posts to move or throw object)

Passive

Mind Guard – increase resistance to mental manipulation, compulsion, and control. The ruby must be worn and will decrease in strength at 5% per day. The ruby can be recharged during a full moon.

Tier 1

Empathic manipulation – The ability to influence feelings and emotions

Read thoughts – Can read one person’s thoughts (with OOC consent)

Tier 2

Misdirection – Convince a target of something otherwise false

Induce Fever – increase the body temperature between 105 – 140 degrees F (40 to 60 degrees C). Lasts 60 minutes.

Voice Manipulation – The ability to project your voice or mimic another. (OOC consent is required)

Tier 3

Evocation – the act of bringing, recalling, or suggesting a feeling, memory or image to the conscious mind. Note: The exhaustion level caused by using this ability to recall a phone number is less significant compared to the level of exhaustion caused by using it to recall a detailed memory.

Superhuman Strength or Speed – The ability to move, think, and react at speeds beyond average human abilities or a have a body equipped to handle greater strength and toughness. (2 posts to initiate and can last up to a full scene but will have complete exhaustion after reverting back to “normal”)

Create a bond (think love potion or enthrallment)

Tier 4

Fear Amplification – The ability to amplify another being’s fear.

Audible Inundation – The power to overwhelm someone’s mind with voices.

Tier 5

Note: The witch/es that perform these abilities will be in an exhaustive state up to 48 hours after.

Break a bond or compulsion – (It is highly recommended to have OOC consent from all parties involved meaning the person who forced the bond/compulsion and the victim)

Induce Sleep – telepathically put up to 3 people to sleep (last 3 post rounds – can last longer with agreement from all involved parties)


Ruling House: Green Witch

Element: Earth

Emeralds personify the deep healing green of nature and present the innate beauty of flowers, trees, roots and plants. Its soothing energy provides healing to all levels of the being, bringing freshness and vitality to the spirit.

Cantrips

Agrokinesis – the ability to control the growth of plants

Ecological Empathy – Earth is the element of the Green Witch and therefore they have the ability to sense the overall well-being and conditions of one’s immediate environment and natural setting stemming from a psychic sensitivity to nature

Tier 1

Pathfinding – Ability to track an individual or object.

Telepathic communication with animals – including Shifters and Werewolves when in animal form.

Genetic Detection – the ability to sense other species (requires OOC consent)

Tier 2

Antidote Generation – Ability to detect poisons and create antidotes

Invoke Shift – can affect Shifters and Werewolves

Pheromone Manipulation – Ability to generate and control pheromones, which may have various effects.

Tier 3

Slow the effects of silver poison when pressed into the wound or crushed and digested (if used for digestion, only 60% remains of the gemstone and is the max it can recharge)

Superhuman Senses – the ability to have animal-like senses that function super accurate. (2 posts to initiate and can last up to a full scene but will have complete exhaustion after reverting back to “normal”)

Healing Hands: non-lethal minor to moderate wounds – minor wounds include cuts, bruising, and abrasions. Moderate wounds would include any that could be taken care of in a Urgent Care visit with out admittance to the hospital.

Tier 4

Note: Though the stone will remain at 40% usage, the witch will have complete exhaustion after performing.

Healing Hands: Prevent Death – healing lethal wounds and illnesses. Typically, these are situations what would warrant surgery or a lengthy hospital stay.

Immobilization – the ability to slow movement leaving a being or an object in a frozen state (3 post max)

Tier 5

Note: The witch/es that perform these abilities will be in an exhaustive state up to 48 hours after.

Halt Vampire/Werewolf Infection – Werewolf bites must be healed before the first full moon. Vampire bite infections can only be healed if the victim was not fed vampire blood.

Revivification – bring someone back from death with 8 hours. Requires a coven.

Atmokinesis – the ability to control the weather (this requires a storyline submission)


Ruling House: Ward Witch

Element: Air

For centuries used as a stone of protection, the Sapphire is a symbol of power and strength as well as kindness and wise judgment. When invoked, the Sapphire’s energy envelops the body like a wave in the ocean, sometimes bestowing a sense of tranquility and other times evoking a surge of overwhelming intensity.

Cantrips

Aerokinesis – manipulate the air, wind, and gas.

Shocking Grasp – A Witch may transfer an electrical charge to a target through physical contact. Prolonged exposure can cause serious harm to both the target and the Witch, as both experience the electric shock.

Precognition – Ability to detect danger.

Tier 1

Technopath – The ability to manipulate technology.

Scrying – The ability to use a magical item to view likely future events (OOC consent required where players are involved)

Tier 2

Blind the smell or hearing of a target to a specific thing.

Quell or invoke rage – The ability to engage others by magnifying their anger or calming it.

Tier 3

Shadow Mimicry – blend into the shadows.

Cloaking – change or mask appearance (cannot imitate another person) for up to two hours.

Tier 4

Warding – turn away harm, evil influences, or deflect misfortune.

Premonition – receive a vision about the future or an object or person without touching.

Electric Ward – A Witch may form a ward using an electrical current, anything coming in contact with said ward will receive a sizeable shock. Due to the offensive nature of this ward, it must be tied to a gemstone (not direct from the Witch’s body, more like a shield generator) and will deplete with time or repeated shocks.

Lightning Bolt – A Witch can release a charged stream of electricity, similar to a lightning bolt, at a target. Using this ability will cause severe electricity burns to the hands of the casting Witch. Makes an extremely loud noise when cast.

Tier 5

Bestowal – The ability to bestow an ability from the Grimoire on another for a period of 4 posts max. This does require an additional gem if the ability is from another house that isn’t ward. For example if a Ward Witch wanted to bestow the ability to speak with the dead (A divination ability) They would need both the sapphire (the power to cast the spell) and a diamond (to hold the spell). Both gems would be depleted after.

Deviation – return an attack back to where it came from (Only one attack in one scene)


Ruling House: Divination Witch

Element: Fire

Diamonds are the conductors and amplifiers of the Lode and an anchor for divination abilities. It is the only gem that can restore and bind the Lode into Rubies, Emeralds, and Sapphires. Humming energy vibrates through the body by simply being within close vicinity of an attuned Diamond and can feel like a strike of lightning when used. 

This is a sacred gem for the Witch species its powers entwined with complex rituals and invocations. Divination Witches are guardians of diamonds due to its rareness and are charged in helping the other Ruling Houses and their access to the Lode. Divination Witches that do not fulfill their duty risk corruption of their soul and dire consequences.

Cantrips

Divination –  The ability to look into the past, present, or future through scrying, reading cards, runes, etc.

Pyrokinesis – create, control and manipulate fire, flame and heat.

Tier 1

Mediumship – ability to communicate with the dead

Inspire Creativity – The ability to create and direct creativity with one’s presence.

Tier 2

Psychometry – The power to divine future, past or present events through contact with or proximity to a certain object or person

Dream Manipulation – The power to control people’s dreams through spells.

Tier 3

Projection – The power to separate from one’s body and project the mind to another location.

Illusions – The power to alter the senses of others to perceive a false reality through spells.

Tier 4

Chronoskinesis – the ability to bring inanimate objects from your past or the past of another you touch to the present. Must have a image of the object to call on.

Pain Infliction – the power to create excruciating migraines that render the target nearly paralyzed ( 4 post rounds max)

Tier 5

Resurrection – the power to bind a soul back to its body up to 3 days after death. (This takes a Coven of Witches to perform, each giving up a slice of their soul in the process)

Gem Repair – the act of binding or recharging gemstones that have been damaged or corrupted.

Revenant Ritual – bringing a soul back to its body with the purpose of binding it to a person or task. Spell and requirements can be found on the Revenant page.


The Sovereign Diamond, a remarkable gem, embodies the energy of all four houses. This extraordinary gem grants its user the ability to effortlessly cast spells from any house without the need for separate gems. Its creation occurs through the fusion of a Gem Key and a Gem Heart, resulting in a potent artifact that transcends the limitations of individual gems. These Gem Keys and Hearts are only created during a Revenant Ritual.

Sovereign Diamonds are extremely rare and nearly impossible to obtain due to the fact that both halves are guarded by two individuals. If obtained, the two halves must be fused back together by a Divination Witch. But one must be ready for the cost of possessing a Sovereign Diamond, complete servitude to the Lode.


Below are chants that can be used in various rituals and spells.

Moonlight Revivification

This spell is spoken once, in harmony if more than one witch is present.

Sisters we beseech thee. Allow us to channel the sacred Lode so that we may continue to grow in our innate abilities.

May the energy of the Lode, surround us, flow through us. Bring us to you, Sisters Three. Peace to our minds, love to our hearts, calm to our spirits so mote it be.

Spell Binding

This spell is spoken once, in harmony if more than one witch is present. You can swap out “spell” for gem, amulet, charm, whatever it is your are binding.

I call Earth to bind my spell,

Air to speed it’s travel well,

Bright as Fire shall it glow

Deep as tired of Water flow,

Count the elements four-fold

In the fifth the spell shall hold.

Can be used for an offering to the Three Sisters at their fountain in Town Square, left in Old Town, or privately at home.
