Week of 8.12.24

Over the past couple of years, there seems to be more discussion about how role-playing in Second Life has seemingly lost its luster. Various factors have been cited as potential causes, such as an oversaturation of themes, the formation of exclusive cliques, and inadequate sim management.

Despite growing apathy among some, a significant portion of role-players remain undeterred in their pursuit of creating immersive and meaningful worlds for themselves.

As we learn the landscape, talk to other owners and players, and look around, it strikes us that too many sims exist in silos or in competition with one another.

Within the community, collaboration and mutual support have become discouraged, deepening existing divisions and rifts.

The Association of Roleplayers (ARP) was created with the goal to to promote, grow and share great roleplaying opportunities in Second Life; broadening the opportunities and communication between sims and players.

We look forward to building a community of support, creativity, and collaboration.

There’s no obligation to join, but if that kind of thing is your jam feel free to join us over at ARP by pasting this link into your browser.

Here are snippets of current stories happening on sim or prompts to help get you dive in. Knowledge of these events are public knowledge so anyone in town could become aware of the following:

The only noise that seems to be permeating Eclipse Ridge is the monotonous hum of crickets on the warm summer nights. Perhaps the heat has been keeping things more lull.

However, this tranquility may be fleeting as the full moon approaches. It serves as a stark reminder that despite our efforts to convince ourselves otherwise, we have limited control over our true nature.
