Silverton, Colorado was one of the big inspirations for Eclipse Ridge with their elevation at approx. 9302 feet.

When we original built the sim we set our elevation at around 5000 feet because we were not sure how snow would work and that elevation typically does not see huge snow packs. We of course (thanks to @Fen ) figured it out to the point that each year we’ve been successful in turning ER into a winter wonderland.

We bounced between Ouray and Silverton because we were not sure which town’s weather worked better for Eclipse Ridge (which is a 3000 feet difference between elevation and equates to about a 20 degree temperature change).

As of today, we will stick with the Silverton, Co weather. The elevation on the Area page has been updated to reflect the decision.
